How old were you when you watched?
your first R rated movie. i was 6 . i was watching legend of sleepy hollow. so how old were you? what movie? did your parents let you or did they disapprove? **the reason i asked if they let you or disapproved is because i watched it at my friends house w/o my mom knowing. she was mad at first, but decided i could handle it.

I was 10. I actually watched quite a few rated R movies when I was 10. I watched House of Wax, Dead Silence and a couple others. My mom didn't know because they were my best friend's older brother's movies. We watched R rated movies all the time at her house. My mom cared a little bit then and she was slightly upset but I was mature. She wasn't upset at all when I started watching R rated movies at home when I was 12.

How do I learn about an antique tool?
I bought an old tool at a junk shop and it appears to be a grease applicator of some sort. It is a small hatchet-shaped tool with a handle that screws off and on. There is a small hole in the head of the tool which connects to the shaft. I am guessing that grease was placed in the hollow shaft, the handle replaced and as the handle was screwed further down the shaft, grease was forced out the head. It is marked with TOMAHAWK MANUFACTURING CO. CLEVELAND, OH. Note sure about the date. I'm new to this site, can I post a picture of the tool?

Hmmm. I searched ebay and the internet for TOMAHAWK MANUFACTURING and could not find anything. If you have some web space where you can upload the picture and then put the link in your question so we can see the picture. That might help. I'm not sure if this breaches YA's rules but if it is legite I think it should be OK.

Curious about these plastic handles attached to cords I found buried in rocks in an old cement quarry?
I'm in Tehachapi California and I hiked up this huge mountain all the way to an old cement quarry. I went real high up and buried in the ground were these red and yellow plastic cords attached to like-colored handles I could wrap my hand around. For some reason when I first spotted one my first thought was "you pull on this to make an explosion" but I kind of wrote it off, thinking it would be silly to make an explosion by pulling on this cord, because you'd have to be right by it. Unless of course it made an explosion in a different place. So I was digging around, trying to see where the cord went. But then I inspected the plastic piece further and saw that it said "Danger Explosive" and I was like :O It seems ridiculous that you pull on this and something explodes. But I was still afraid to pull on it and inspect any further. Here is a picture of it: http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c348/other_side/0213101415.jpg Down the middle of the handle is a hollow cylinder, and the hooked part of the handle seemed to be mangled, as if the explosion had already occured. There were red ones too with red handles. Does anyone know anything about this?

can u get pics? The pic link u have listed is not available anymore.

What types of handles can go on hollow-core doors?
We moved into a house where the owner had installed a handle on the pantry door, which is hollow-core, where the screws go into the face of the door (a lever-type handle that doesn't actually move up and down...just serves as a pull). I like this look, but at our old house, we have always used knob-type where the screw goes all the way through the door and meets the knob in front, providing extra strength. Of course, with the lever-type, the holes were almost completely stripped out (the previous owners were a little sloppy in a lot of their work). Should a hollow-core door be able to tolerate the repeated use of a handle without stripping the screw holes, or should I play it safe and go with knobs? The lever does not actually move. It's decorative. As such, the force is actually directed outward away from the door (bi-fold door). I think that's why the previous handle's holes were stripped out.

Should be fine. If it's a proper lever, with the mechanism as well, the most of the stress is on the spindle and the screws stop the lever plate from turning. You could always put some thin ply etc under the lever plates to strengthen this up a little if you are still concerned
